Amenities

Experience a Wide Array of Activities for the Whole Family

Modern amenities await golfers, however. The spacious dining room, fully equipped kitchen and welcoming bar help the staff provide golfers with satisfying food and beverages after a round. An outdoor terrace with exquisite vistas and a view of the 18th green provide an excellent setting for enjoying the offerings from the kitchen and bar. Modern construction methods and 18th century architecture were combined again in the design of the men's and women's locker facilities, part of which existed previously as the dairy farm's milk house.

Golf Course

Naturally, the Lookaway experience really gets started on the golf course. After just one round on the Rees Jones designed course, golfers know why it is ranked the 18th Best Course in Pennsylvania by Golf Digest in their latest Rankings. The course is fair, yet challenging. It dares the better golfers, while offering options to the less-skilled players. The championship course with only 250 members ensures the opportunity to play often, and yet, there are only 14,000 rounds played annually. As a result, Lookaway has no tee times and no long waits.

Lookaway has four principal tee locations. From the back tees the course plays to approximately 7,000 yards with a slope of 145. From the middle tees the course plays to almost 6,500 yards (141 slope), front tees about 6,000 yards (136 slope); and the forward tees about 5,200 yards (129 slope).

Indoor Training Center

Lookaway Golf Club is delighted to offer our Members exclusive access to our Indoor Golf Training Facility. Our Partner's passion for golf and desire to improve their game does not wane during inclement weather. Lookaway's two bay facility is staffed by Lookaway's PGA Professionals and provides our Members the latest technology in golf simulation.

The Indoor Training Facility offers lessons, practice, club fittings and the ability to virtually golf Lookaway's course, as well as several other well-known golf courses!

Locker Rooms

The Men's and Women's Locker Rooms occupy an adjoining stone structure which was formerly used as the milk house of the old Lookaway Farm. These spacious, luxurious locker rooms are outfitted with comfort and convenience in mind. Each offers an area where the members can relax both before and after their rounds, whether to watch television, enjoy a beverage or just chat. Attendants are available to make sure that your shoes are always in tip-top condition and guests are greeted upon their arrival to the Club.

Dining

The Lookaway Culinary Team proudly operates a scratch kitchen, frequently using locally sourced items for a farm to fork dining experience. Our seasonal menus are designed with an emphasis on healthy selections and member preferences and our diners delight in the Chef’s presentation of contemporary comfort foods. At Lookaway we embrace you and your guests with cheerful greetings, consummate hospitality and a memorable dining experience. Our service team is second to none and truly believes dining with Lookaway should feel as if you’re in the comfort of your own home. Carefully selected seasonal wines, craft beers and locally distilled liquors can be found on the beverage menu and we take great care in pouring fresh and delightful cocktails to complement your meal.

Trap Shooting

Lookaway Golf Clubs' amenities also includes the winter sport of Trap Shooting on the property from December through March. The sport is, in some ways, a replacement for the game where the targets were live pigeons. Indeed, one of the names for the clay targets used in trap shooting is clay pigeons. Trap shooting has been a sport since at least 1793, which is appropriate given the history and age of the Lookaway property dating back to 1752! The Lookaway Trap Registry shoots every Sunday, beginning in December extending the comraderies of the golf season throughout the winter months. Members age 14+ are welcome to join the Trap Registry and all Members are welcome! The gun, ammo and clay pigeons will be supplied, if you do not have your own equipment, and of course, the appropriate safety guidelines will be shared in a special safety instruction prior to shooting. Our seasoned Trap members are happy to assist all who join while passing the traditions of this sport on to new shooters of all ages!

Bridge

Lookaway has a very active bridge scene; lessons, social bridge get-togethers, practice sessions, and friendly tournament play with other clubs. Group organizers can arrange for professional Bridge lessons, if requested. Mixed (friendly) Duplicate Bridge is held on Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM. Both men and women players are welcome. Couples or singles are welcome, as organizers will match single players. If interested in joining the group, or just in learning more, please contact the Club Office.
